Our Working Groups

Practical action for the benefit of Brockenhurst

Our volunteer-led working groups bring people together to tackle local issues, develop community projects and support initiatives that make a positive difference to life in Brockenhurst.

We often work alongside Brockenhurst Parish Council, public bodies and other community organisations. Our approach is practical, collaborative and focused on finding solutions that benefit the village.

Our work covers a wide range of local priorities, including:

  • accessibility
  • the appearance and upkeep of the village
  • local infrastructure
  • heritage
  • protecting the tranquillity of Brockenhurst, and
  • community resilience.

Previous projects have included protecting pedestrian access to the New Forest, helping residents adapt to changes in waste collection services and supporting communication during improvements to the village gas network.

Some projects, such as our Community Clean-Up, provide an ongoing benefit to the village. Others, including the work to restore Martin’s Road Footbridge, are focused on achieving a specific long-term outcome.

How we support our working groups

Working groups benefit from:

  • access to a network of local volunteers, knowledge and experience
  • a straightforward structure for planning and delivering projects
  • communication channels that help promote and coordinate local initiatives, and
  • support with fundraising where appropriate and suitable arrangements are in place.

Current initiatives

Our working groups are currently involved in a range of projects across Brockenhurst.

Residents often have valuable local knowledge and may identify issues affecting their street, neighbourhood or an area of particular interest. If you think something would benefit from a coordinated community effort, we’d love to hear from you. We’ll listen, explore what’s possible and, where appropriate, help bring together the people needed to move things forward.
