Martin’s Road footbridge

Reopening update

Work to reopen the footbridge from the Martin’s Road end is progressing well.

The bridge provides residents with a safe and convenient route into the New Forest and has long been valued by the local community. Restoring this access is important, both for everyday use and for maintaining the close connection between the village and the forest.

Forestry England, Brockenhurst Village Trust and Brockenhurst Parish Council are working together to establish a long-term solution.

The current focus is on putting the necessary licences, responsibilities and formal agreements in place so the bridge can be restored and maintained safely for years to come.

All those involved remain committed to finding a lasting solution that protects this important local route and restores access for residents and visitors.

Further updates will be shared as soon as the necessary arrangements have been completed and a timetable for the work has been confirmed.
